A Children's Play about Terrorism

directed by Katy Tye

Since January 2019, there have been 1,454 terrorist attacks and 6,547 fatalities worldwide.updated 9/17/19

How do we discuss the atrocity of Terrorism?

How does it affect us? How does it affect our kids?

US/THEM is inspired by the Beslan School Siege in 2004, when armed Chechen rebels stormed a school in Russia, taking hostage over 1,100 students, parents, and teachers.

It ended three days later with 700 people injured and 334 people dead; 186 of them children.

Us/Them is a haunting, surprising, always captivating account of the siege as told by two hostage students.

It offers a child's understanding of coping with trauma and why people commit unthinkable acts.

Mature Themes. Adults and Students 13+

Carly Wijs wrote this play to start a conversation about a challenging topic. Let's talk in the safe space of the theater.

Each performance will offer a post-show discussion, led by a licensed trauma counselor from Centene Corporation.
