Board Service with Echo Theater
BOARD DUES: Due to the COVID Pandemic, the Board voted in 2020 to allow members to join on a sliding scale. While Board Dues are usually $1,500 per year, “get” or “give”, it was decided that we didn’t want to exclude any individual or couple from membership due to inability to donate. For fiscal years 2021 and 2022 we will accept Board Members with a “Pay What You Can” dues structure. If prospective members cannot currently make a donation, they will be asked to raise funds and/or actively serve on or head a committee. Meetings are currently 90-minutes a month on Zoom.
THE SEASON: Two mainstage Regional Premieres; THE OTHER FELIX, a play on film, was presented in April (Streamed Online and Screened In-Person in an outdoor setting) - and IT’S MY PARTY! hits the stage in September (Streamed Online and performed Onstage with restricted audience size.) We will also virtually present our Free staged reading series ECHO READS: six plays, each performed on two separate nights, and followed by talk-backs after each reading. The ECHO OFFSTAGE podcast will also see its 2nd and 3rd Seasons this year, each with 6 episodes featuring interviews with impactful women of theater. In addition, we will conduct Echo Theatre’s Big Shout Out 3 - An International New Play Festival for Women+ Playwrights. The contest will be held this year and the finalists will receive play readings in 2022. Echo has the option to produce the winning play as a work-in-progress or mainstage production in 2022. It’s going to be a busy season during a time of change.
Join us!

Founded in 1998, Echo Theatre is a Dallas, Texas-based 501(c)(3) non-profit theater company.
We produce the works of women+ in order to promote gender parity in play selection and production. Upon entering our 30th Decade, we updated both our Mission and Vision Statements to better reflect our changing world. Recognizing the limiting nature of the binary word “woman”, we choose the term “women+” to acknowledge the diverse array of people who identify as women in ways that are significant to them. We welcome all people to our production table, our stage and our audience.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Echo Theatre Champions the Diverse Voices of Women+.
VISION STATEMENT:
Echo Theatre forges gender parity within the canon of global theater by producing, promoting, and preserving the work of women+.
STRENGTHS: Echo’s board of directors is small and diverse. We believe that our differences make us stronger. We welcome anyone who is energized by our mission, wants to advance the impact of our programming, and enjoys learning, growing, and evolving together; both as people and as an institution. We believe in creating exciting art that results in excellence with a positive impact; one which elevates the arts in Dallas, Texas.
TERM: A standard term is 2-years, with the option to extend board service when that term is up. Until we grow the size of our board, service on a committee is expected. Those committees may include the Fundraising and Event Committee, In-Kind and Corporate Donation Committee; Board Expansion Committee, and others as the season demands. We also have Board Officers rolling off every 2-years. We are always in need of Board Members to fill these officer roles; in fact, we have an urgent need for qualified candidates which include those willing to learn. Our Administrative Assistant takes notes during board meetings and submits them to our Secretary for oversight and distribution. Our Treasurer is a partner to the Managing and Artistic Director.
